Ballinamore Junction Box
The Junction Hub, a new community hub located at the site of a former railway station and school building was opened in February of this year by the Minister for Rural Development Heather Humphreys. DBFL provided civil and structural engineering services for the €2.5 million project, which was supported by the Rural Regeneration Development Fund. The project involved the repurposing of derelict and historic structures, including the former St. Felim’s College, into spaces designed to benefit the local community. Creating new spaces for modern use while minimising the need for new construction underpins sustainable development. The Junction offers flexible workspaces, arts programs, and youth services, and hosts organizations like the Leitrim School of Art Drumshanbo and North Connaught Youth Work. At the opening the Minister highlighted the project’s importance for regenerating the town of Ballinamore.
