Client: Dun Laoghaire – Rathdown County Council
DBFL were appointed by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council to design a road safety improvement scheme to reduce the impact of traffic on the Cross Avenue area of Dún Laoghaire, making it a safer environment for all road users.
The scheme combined traditional traffic management measures such as the implementation of one-way systems for traffic with various recommendations made in the Design Manual for Urban Roads & Streets (DMURS) such as the enhancement of the urban realm as a means to calm traffic in the area.
Following construction, the scheme has been identified as a sample project for the implementation of Traffic Calming by DLRCC and the Department of Transport, Toursim & Sport.
