Client: Dublin & Dun Laoghaire Education & Training Board
DBFL were commissioned by Dublin & Dun Laoghaire Education & Training Board to provide structural and civil engineering services for the 3-storey Phase 2 extension to the original community college constructed in 2009, to accommodate an additional 700 pupils to bring the student numbers to 1,000.
This project involved an 8,260 sqm, 3-storey Phase 2 extension to the original community college constructed in 2009, to accommodate an additional 700 pupils to bring the student numbers to 1,000. The works include an enhanced community facility for Fingal County Council and significant upgrading works to the road infrastructure to address congestion associated with the 2 adjoining primary schools.
The enhanced facility takes the form of ground and first floor offices adjacent to a PE hall, with bleacher retractable seating and a steel frame roof supporting a sky-fold climbing wall and an all-weather pitch.
The extension works completed in 2015 built independent of the original Phase 1 building, included the construction of a class based Special Needs Facility which is single storey in form and is positioned centrally within the extension works. Careful attention was given to the servicing of this area which required close coordination of all members of the design team.
