DBFL Transition Year Programme 2025
You could say it was payback time last week. Many of DBFL’s engineers have benefited from the generosity of others in helping them with advice and guidance in their careers to date. So it was time to give a little back to some potential future engineers, as our volunteer teams welcomed secondary school students to the DBFL Transition Year Programme 2025.
Now in its fifth year, the DBFL TY Programme offers students an opportunity to spend time with DBFL engineers over three days, learning about the day-to-day challenges of engineering and the possibilities that a career in engineering can offer them.
We had a really enthusiastic and engaging bunch of students this year, eager to learn, rising to all the hands-on challenges presented to them and having a bit of fun along the way. They got out and about to some DBFL projects too with visits to Seven Mills, the brand new town currently being built beside the Grand Canal, between Clondalkin and Lucan and they also enjoyed an educational walking tour of DBFL’s public realm design at Francis Street.
The Rediscovery Centre kept them busy with a Sustainability Workshop and we were also delighted to have Aisling Burke of Engineers Ireland pay a visit, to chat to the students about their experience and see for herself what the programme is all about.
As always, a huge thank you to Engineers Ireland, particularly Kate Cannon for the amazing support that makes this Engineering Your Future programme possible (and the hoodies went down well too!).
Till next year…..
