About the roles:
Due to an expanding portfolio of projects nationally, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Engineer in our Civils / Infrastructure Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing services ranging from feasibility studies and detailed designs through to construction and completion of large national infrastructure projects. The candidate can expect to work on a wide variety of projects in both the public and private sectors. Mentoring by assigned members of our Leadership Team will be provided for both Pre and Post Chartered candidates. Rapid career progression within an expanding team is possible for successful candidates.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Reporting to a Director/Team Leader, successful candidates, pending experience, will display the following key traits and skills:-
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong numerical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to lead the planning and design process for major infrastructure schemes
• A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of civil engineering, including the design of drainage, levels, roads, watermains, and earthworks
• Clear understanding of design principles set out in national/local authority standards and technical guidance documents such as GDSDS, IW CoP, DMURS,
Cycle Design Manual, DMRB, and TII Publications
• Experience in the design and specification of civil engineering materials
• Ability to interrogate baseline information and prepare innovative, cost-effective design solutions for public and private clients using the latest design suites and applications
• Ability to lead the coordination with multi-disciplinary design teams and be able to present design solutions effectively & holistically within an overall project team
• Establishing and maintaining project governance in line with our Integrated Management Systems
• Manage resource allocation and monitor project budgets
• Offer technical guidance to junior engineers and staff, enhancing team competence and project outcomes.
• Provide mentoring & training to staff within the team
• Experience in the preparation of contract documents for Public Works Contracts and administration of contracts through construction stage
• Developing awareness of project and commercial management requirements on large infrastructure projects
• Strong leadership and collaboration qualities
Desired qualifications and requirements:
• At least 5 to 8 years post qualification civil engineering experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Minimum Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree (Hons)
• Ideally Chartered status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
• Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills
• Display leadership qualities and possess a keen eye for opportunities
• A current driver’s licence is essential.
