Client: The Dylan Hotel
The Dylan Hotel at Eastmoreland Street, Dublin 4 was the original nurses’ home for Baggot Street Hospital. The original building had been previously renovated and used as The Hibernian Hotel.
The refurbishment and extension work associated with its conversion to The Dylan Hotel involved: the complete remodeling of the existing building, the construction of a new basement kitchen, plant and storage area and the construction of a new bedroom wing.
Contiguous pile retaining structures were used to construct the new basement that was located immediately adjacent to the existing building. The new bedroom block was constructed in reinforced concrete and the lift in the original building was required to be extended downwards to service the new basement.
In 2016, the Dylan Hotel carried out a extension to the side of the existing hotel which included 28 bedrooms with a passenger lift , 5 office quarters and courtyard carparking. 5 links were provided to the existing hotel which had to be managed in a live environment. This extension works were carried out over a 10month period.
