DBFL provided Structural, Civil and Transportation services for this SHD development comprising 598 residential units, a creche, retail, commercial and a local amenity building.
480 apartment units were constructed in eight blocks between five and six storeys in height. Three of the blocks are above a combined reinforced concrete basement with 180 car parking spaces. The apartments are constructed using a precast concrete superstructure comprising of loadbearing PC walls with precast concrete hollowcore floors and a structural screed.
There are also nine three-storey duplex blocks consisting of 118 residental units constructed with traditional load bearing masony walls, precast concrete first floor slab with timber floors and roof trusses.
DBFL’s scope of work included upgrading pedestrian and cycle facilities along Scholarstown Road, designing site access points from Scholarstown Road and design of surface water drainage, foul drainage and water supply infrastructure within the site.
A strategic 450mm diameter foul sewer, required as part of Irish Water’s Ballycullen / Oldcourt Reinforcement Project, traverses the site. DBFL undertook design of the section of pipeline traversing the site, co-ordinated the route with other on-site services and obtained Irish Water’s approval for same
The development’s surface water strategy incorporates SUDS methodologies such as green roofs, permeable paving, tree pits and below / above ground attenuation all of which were agreed with SDCC’s Water Services Section
