STEPS Engineering Your Future Transition Year Programme
Last week, our team of volunteer engineers successfully delivered DBFL’s Transition Year Programme to an enthusiastic group of 18 students from a range of different schools. STEPSEngineeringYourFuture
Over three days the students worked in teams to address key transportation, civil and structural challenges on a mock project, culminating in a final day presentation to our engineers of their proposed solutions.
As part of the programme, now in its fourth year, the group enjoyed a visit to a number of DBFL sites in the developing new town of Clonburris, and a walkaround some local DBFL public realm projects in Dublin city centre, including the significant streetscape improvements at Francis Street.
We were delighted to once again host The Rediscovery Centre who engaged the group through a Sustainability workshop. Sincere thanks to Engineers Ireland, in particular Kate Cannon, for the continuing support of this and all our other STEPs initiatives, .
We hope all the students enjoyed the programme (and the pizza!) as much as we enjoyed having them, and that some of them might be inspired to go on to consider engineering as a career.
